My experience at this airport was very disappointing. I was actually looking forward to entering Doha today during 12 hour transit to Dallas, TX. I decided not to leave the airport after experience I went through today.
As a Muslim woman, being fully covered and wearing an abaya and being in a Muslim country, this was the last thing I expected to happen during a transfer. As I was going through security, which I know is protocol, I was searched and touched unnecessarily all over my body despite the fact my body went through a comprehensive full scan and I was only wearing two rings and gold bracelet, which I am sure the machine was fully capable of detecting without my privacy being utterly violated. I did not even have the opportunity to be searched privately. I passed security in Dallas/FW (my origin) and Saudi Arabia (where I was visiting from) without an issue so that is why I find this incident to be extremely upsetting.
Furthermore, all my bags were searched and passed inspection despite not having anything suspicious or dangerous. I have been travelling to and from US for many years and well aware of the 100mL rule. Upon inspecting my bags, I was cleared and told that “all my liquids were safe and within TSA guidelines”. Furthermore, both my husband’s bags were also searched without any explanation. Again, this were the same bags and items we brought from Dallas all the way to Saudi without any issues.
Thank you for attention in this matter.
