I was at the immigration counter in order to check out for a transit. I handed my passport to the lady officer who immediately refused to check my passport for it being ‘dirty and disgusting’ and insisted me to clean it. I wiped my passport thinking it might have been sweaty for being held in my hand during the long queue. Yet she kept refusing to check it while continuously insisting me to clean it. Her accusations did not make sense and it was certainly for a purpose to insult considering from her gesture(expression, exaggeratedly sanitizing her hands, hand rubbing gesture). It’s inevitable that I consider this revolting experience as a racial discrimination. Her attitude was appalling and unbelievable considering that she’s an airport staff. She didn’t even tell her name when I asked. I’m surprised that staff aren’t equipped with a name badge or has freedom to harass a tourist and just get away with it. Dubai is one of the popular destinations in the world and I was truly shocked of how unprofessional and uncultured the officers are. The lady officer next to me ended up checking my passport because this was going no where. Truly upsetting incident after a long journey. I’m disappointed with both Dubai airport and the citizens of this country. This airport must introduce a proper training scheme to the staff and not tolerate racist/inhumane behavior towards tourists or any passengers. I would of course never recommend a transit at Dubai or ever visit this country myself
