I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding discriminatory treatment I experienced during the boarding of flight AF1440 on 6 of October from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport to Amsterdam schiphol airport.
At gate F55, during boarding at approximately 17:40, I was instructed by a gate staff member to check in my hand luggage. This was surprising, as several passengers before and after me in the same economy class line were allowed to take their hand luggage onboard. When I asked about the selection criteria, the staff member first said it was because I was not flying in business class. However, all passengers around me were also in economy class. When I asked again, she said it was because I am a Flying Blue Explorer member, but she could not explain why I was the only one selected.
While waiting at the gate, I noticed that Asian passengers, including myself, were consistently being asked to check in their hand luggage, whereas non-Asian passengers were not. This pattern made me feel embarrassed and discriminated against in front of other travelers.
After boarding, I observed that there was still sufficient overhead compartment space, showing that the request was unnecessary and not based on operational reasons. As a result, I experienced additional delay and inconvenience upon arrival, which affected my connecting train home. I have attached photos of the luggage label as evidence.
