To whom it may concern,
My name is Vaibhav Mishra, citizen of India and resident of Dubai.
I work for a middle eastern airlines and I was traveling on standby ticket for staff which means seats are allocated once check in counter closes for regular passengers which is 1 hour before scheduled departure time.
In my case counter closed at 9.05 (15 min behind the schedule)
As I got seat last minute which is just 50 min before departure, I had to rush to the immigration and security in order to not miss my flight.
The airport staff (ground handling) advised me to try to request the fellow passengers in the line to allow me to go ahead and do the immigration formalities first and proceed to security checks.
The kind passengers allowed me to skip the que and proceed as it was already 9.15 pm (borarding gate closes at 9.30).
I went to the counter which said “All passports” one counter next to (to the left of) “Damaged/correction passport”
The immigration officer sitting there rudely shouted at me to go back as he will not entertain me because I skipped the que, to which I politely requested him to understand my situation and the reason why I requested and skipped the line.
He said he will not let me pass from there and rudely pointed finger to the “first and business class counter”.
Then The gentleman ( Sardar ji with a turban) on the counter “Damaged/correction passport” was kind enough and asked me to proceed to him and managed my request.
He told me if I had informed in advance that I’m aviation staff, I would be given priority as my situation is out of my control.
Thanks to him I could manage to catch my flight.
I want to ask the Immigration authorities that why the staff at the counter is so unprofessional and rude let alone seems quite uncivilized in handling humans?
Do we look like cattles?
Being Indian and disrespected in my own country for simply running behind schedule is beyond acceptable.
I would appreciate if you look into the matter and give a corrective feedback to the person involved.
This is very disappointing and humiliating to get insulted in front of others when situation is out of my control.
