Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) Abuse Report

I am writing to formally raise a complaint against an immigration official at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi, for misusing my personal mobile phone and behaving in an unprofessional and intrusive manner.
During my recent travel on [today on 18 April,2025 at 6Am from India to New zealand ], There was rush on the immigration checkpoint and one of the officer took some of the passengers to the other nearby checkpoint. There were only two officials (one male and one female immigration officer). They didn’t have any name plates on their dresses. I was asked by the male immigration officer to show my visa. I opened the visa document on my mobile phone and handed it to the officer specifically for that purpose. However, instead of limiting their attention to the visa document, the officer closed it and began scrolling through my personal mobile applications and private chats with my family members and friends, without my consent.

Furthermore, the officer started asking irrelevant and inappropriate questions such as:
• “Why do you transfer money to your family members?”
• “Why do you have photographs of documents belonging to you and your relatives in your phone?”

This conduct was completely uncalled for, invasive, and made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I strongly believe this was an abuse of authority and a clear violation of my privacy. This conduct is a gross violation of my right to privacy and personal dignity. At no point was I informed of the reason for such a search, nor was I provided with any legal grounds under which such an invasive action was being carried out. The experience was distressing, humiliating, and has deeply shaken my trust in the professionalism of the immigration process.
I respectfully request a thorough investigation into this matter and appropriate disciplinary action against the official involved. I also urge you to ensure that standard protocols are followed during such checks and that officials are trained to handle such situations professionally and within legal bounds.

Please let me know if any further details or clarifications are needed from my side.

Sincerely,
Kirpaal Singh
